CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Your post say 1969-P and unfortunately, there were not any 1969-P Kennedy's produced. Are you sure there is not a D on your coin?

While I am no expert by any means, your coin has all the earmarks of an early die state Master Doubled Die 1969-D.

Perhaps James Wiles will chime in.

Pennycat...I don’t see any significant doubling in any of you photos, not even any master die doubling. The MDO for the 69D on TRUST shows a light triple spread (see attached photo). There is a CONECA listing for a doubled die obverse, 69D DDO-001. I think the easiest way to identify it is by the doubling on the hair on the back of the head.

I've seen many 1968 D and 1969 D kennedys with this slight amount of doubling. It is a very minor doubled die and it is one that I don't think folks pay much attention to as the doubling is too slight.

I often see very slight splits on the points of the serifs of the W of WE and I use that as the PUP for this die variety. I don't even keep them and they just go into my scrap silver pile. They are very common when you've seen enough kennedys.

            Thanks,
            Bill
