CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1964-D New RPM ?

I haven't seen this one listed and was wondering if anyone else had seen this listed. I looked in the 2nd editon of the RPM Book but nothing seemed to match. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I really believe that this was caused by a crack or chip in the die that caused additional material (cud) to be deposited in the area. Note the blob on top of the D upright. JMHO.

Yea, I kept going back and forth on that. The blob is more pronounced on the pics due to the lighting. But it does have an odd shape. I have added one more pic to show there is something curved on the inner portion of the D (near the top).

I would be happy to take a first hand look. Email me for the details on sending it in for attribution.
