1955-P Error/Variety
I have recently come across an anomaly in several specimens of 1955-P lincoln cent. The anomaly appears as in indent at Lincolns neck. It has straight well defined boundaries. See attached. Can anyone give me insight as to this anomaly - whether it is some type of strike error or is actually a die variety?
Thanks.Tags: None

Without a doubt it is a die clash at the throat. The items on the reverse are not cuds, but die chips/breaks. Cuds by definition must include a breaking of the shank of the die. This is almost always associated with the edge of the die.
