CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

I'm not sure on this one. Most of the letters look to show machine doubling, but the S of PLURIBUS might show a furrow in the bottom curve. I'll wait for our variety experts to chime in.

      Mike,

Many thanks for chiming in first on my initial/returning posts. De javu, as you were the first who kindly responded on my questions regarding error coins that got me introduced to this exciting hobby 2+ yrs ago.

        Have attached additional photos.

3a shows shield edge doublings running down completely to the bottom.
Also shows doublings in AMERICA strongest in M.

3b shows notchings and separations in CENT.

3c shows design shift referenced to misalignments of the lines pointed by the arrows.

        Thanks!

Your latest photos only show machine doubling, so I suspect all the doubling on your coin is of the same type.

Incised (or incused) machine doubling is very hard to determine form a picture. I remember seeing quite a few 1969 Lincoln cents form San Fransisco that had the designer's initials that were doubled due to machine doubling.

Right now I am leaning towards machine doubling as the cause for this anomaly. However, an in hand examination may prove otherwise.
