Just looking at the "I", I'd say you're looking at a tripled die. But it's always wise to wait for James or BJ to comment.

Based on that one picture, it does appear to be some sort of hub doubling. As for the class of doubled die and if it is a tripled die, only an in hand examination could tell.

There was Master Die doubling in 1971 and 1972 which this coin could possibly be. The doubling shows up really well in the I of the Motto on EDS coins. Posting photo's of the rest of the motto would reveal which die the coin really is.

If only the I is doubled, then its master die doubling. If the rest of the motto has doubling, like the N GOD or WE TRUST, then it is something else.

        More photo's are definitely needed.

I think the doubling on the I of IN in your photo looks like it could be from the 71D DDO-007. If your half is a DDO-007 you should see doubling on TRUST also...see attached photos of a 71D DDO-007. I agree with 19Lyds, that if there is no doubling on TRUST it would most likely be series doubling.

If you could please post pictures of the rest of the motto, as requested, then perhaps an assessment can be made.
