  • 1916 Indian Head Nickel 2 Feather

I'm a bit confused after reading the Ken Potter article in coin world, discussing recent MSNS show finds, including the soon to be in the new CPG FS-401 1916 2-Feather Variety....I found a specimen today, and, thought this was a new find(1916 2-feather is currently NOT in the CPG book), yet, I found 1 collector with 12 of 15, 2-feathers, in his PCGS collection, and, has a 1916 FS-402 2-feather. So, what makes the new 401 different, and, how do I know which I have? I see 1916, 2-feathers on ebay, as well as all the "regular" years.
    Thanks

I don't know how many "two feather" dies are out there. There could be quite a few, since it's caused by intentional die abrasion ("die polishing").

I talked to Ken Potter, and, the 1916 2-Feather Variety is the easiest of the 2-feathers to collect....it has a FS-402 number.....the new 401 number will be for the "No-F" variety.
