CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • A JOHNSON Eye Different

The attached photos show AJ with an unusual eye. Kind of looks like an die break smoothed over. Any ideas?

First and second pictures are the ones in question third is normal.

Is that a horizontal "I" at the left corner of the right eyebrow?

        Merlin!

Good catch! I spotted it too. That coin needs a closer examination. Could be struck through a dropped letter or some form of exotic die damage. I suggest the owner get this coin looked at by CONECA error examiners! I know I would like to see it!

Just returned from puting it in the mail. Took me longer than I thought it would. Should be to you in a day or two as I'm sending it from Warner Robins GA.

Cool! That means I will be able to examine it, report my findings and get it back to you before I leave for Chicago. Nice to know you are in Georgia too!

Bummer, folks. I did not get to see the coin we wanted to see. I saw two of the others but not the one with what we believe is a struck through dropped letter.

Okay, took longer than I thought. They are in the mail now. Included a couple of 08 cents and a 09 cent for atribution consideration.
