Did they overdate some 4's in the 1944 Wheat Penny?

I have countless coins of this date but this is the only one with these characteristics. Kinda looks like a die variety but also looks as if the normal 44 was stamped over the 1943 style 4's that have the distinctive upper hook at the tip of the west arm of the 4. I know it is some type of variety or error just not which one. any advice would help. Thanks!

Your coin is a MDS to LDS coin and does not show the full date on the 1944 Lincoln cent. The doubling is an engravers mistake.

I agree, looks like a normal '44 to me...

        1944 cent dies

There are no carry-over 1943-P obverse dies in Mint records.

Thank you all for your advice. It was just the the little hook on the east extension of the 4 that made me wonder.
