CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Your opinions please: 1974 S DDO?

    Hey Everyone,

I'm not sure what to make of this one. The doubling in question does not seem shelf-like to be machine doubling. Possibly hub doubling or maybe a new DDO? What do you all think?

    Thanks

Is this a proof? Here are a couple pics of my BS 74S that has the extra thickness on the 97 and all other lettering on the obverse. Just a couple of many but is definitely not a normal business struck coin for that year and MM.

This appears to be one of the many forms that Machine Doubling can look like on a proof coin since they are struck at least twice.
The attached images of a 2008-S Kennedy is a machine doubled coin.
