Gettysburg Quarter, Doubling in Pennsylvania
I wish I had better optics for pictures and this is the best I can offer right now. I do not believe this to be MD, die fatigue etc. etc. etc. Its some of the better doubling I've seen in a while. Maybe wrong(most likely) but I think its a hubbing variety. You be the judge. Again I'm sorry I don't have better pics. Its most prominent in PENTags: None

Since that lettering is incused, its definitely machine doubling just like the doubling in the attachment is. Serif splits and all.
James Wiles explained it this way:
"The lettering around the border field is incuse. MDD on incuse design elements will show splits in the serifs. While true die doubling will show as extensions."
When asked "Extensions?", I was referred to the web page below for an example of what a true "incused lettering" doubled die looks like.
