CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1999 Lincoln Cent, interesting obverse doubling

I've gotten a lot better at being able to spot machine doubling but this one has me a little bit unsure. What do ya think?

The lettering looks like machine doubling but I think you may have a new discovery with that doubled ear. That is very cool! I would post on lincolncentresource.com and see what the experts have to say. They will probably want you to send it in.

The absence of extra thickness and notching, along with the character of the doubling, makes this likely to be mild machine doubling...the ear as well.

This is common to find on most coins...I run into this all the time .

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all your opinions and advice, as to the "ear" doubling though, I have taken a few more and much better detail pictures which shows what does look like a variety but still it does need to be inspected "in hand" by a pro which I am not. I'll post the new pics and I have used several different light spectrum's and positioning. I hope so, it would be nice to be credited with a new find. Happy Holidays

I'm not sure about the ear but GOD WE looks like it may be hub doubling and not MD.

Either way I think the coin should be examined by a professional in hand so I am going to send it out today. Thank you all for all your opinions! You've been helping me become better at identifying true errors vs. worthless ones.
