CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Did they use Matte Dies after 1917? Plus poss. doubling inner ear

I know its not any kind of special date but its different from every other 1919 I have. It has the flat squared off rims with very even lettering and a deep strike with a sharp grainy field with it curving just slightly up to the rim like a Matte Proof does. The detail is very appealing. Also it looks to have some doubling at the lower inner ear and really doesn't appear to be MD but I really don't know.

1919 proof dies--2 obv, 2 rev--were destroyed unused. Look in the Mint Report: Proof Dies. For the record: the dies are called "proof" dies. The coins are matte or satin. No such thing as "matte proof dies" used in 1909-1917.
