CONECA Member N-4679 Retires 100% Complete Mercury Dime Variety Set

After taking sometime and thinking it through I decided to retire my 100% complete Mercury Dime Variety Set on the PCGS Registry.

Here is an image of one of my latest graded coins. I know CONECA does not recognize the 1942-S Inverted S, but here is an image anyway. Enjoy!

I would like to know what is meant by "retiring" a set of coins. Does that mean they are selling the coins? Does it mean the coins are eligible for social security? Some enlightenment please.

Retiring a set takes it out of the compitition. The set no longer qualifies for the #1 Set Registry award from PCGS. A number of coins have been sold from this set, so I retired it rather than having it move down. Now, the coins that I still have cannot be used in that category by me. When ownership changes the coins can be used by the new owner without impacting the retired set position.

Thank you for clarifying that for me. Now I understand.
