CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1982-P Dime DDR?

Hi all. I have a 1982-P Roosevelt Dime I need some help with. I am fairly new to searching for errors and have studied material on doubled die coins. When I first started I found many "doubled dies" and have since figured out through this studying that all or almost all are MD. This one I am not sure about. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, sorry about the quality of the photos.

looks like you have found another one with the bad case of MD . hang in there and before long you can learn how to tell the real doubled die coins from the many forms of worthless doubling.

      Thanks

Thanks Rascal. That is what I thought, but I wanted someone with more expertise in the field to take a look. It looked closer to hub doubling than all the others I looked through.

Perhaps you noticed the "shelf" of the doubling looked higher than the usual coin with MD, but I agree with the others that it is MD.
