  • CONCERNING 2006 LINCOLN CENT, DDO-003

Lately, this die has had a few auction and since it is a rare die that can be very expensive to acquire, I thought that this should be posted.

First, if you are trying to acquire this 2006 Lincoln die, CONECA DDO-003, CDDO-028, WDDO-032, Coppercoins 2006P-1DO-017, make some comparisons. James Wiles has included excellent photographs of this die in the two stages that he has attributed, along with die markers. If that is not enough, Bob Piazza over in Coppercoins has posted some excellent pictures of this die as well, showing the overall doubling and has included the die markers.

Second, check the area where the coin has been found. In this case it should be around the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky area. So far, that is where all of this particular die has been found and not in the TAMPA area of Florida.

Third, check the seller and his or her reliability and feedback.

There are certain auctions on Ebay presently that claim it is the CONECA 2006 Lincoln cent DDO-003 that is up for sale. Since my name was mentioned in these auctions, I feel I do have a right to respond. While the auction is for a 2006 Lincoln cent doubled die obverse, IT IS NOT CONECA DDO-003, CDDO-028, WDDO-032 OR 2006P-1DO-017.

I have stopped selling on Ebay for over a year now. Just to many fakes, incorrectly attributed coins and other junk stuff for my taste, so the answer is "no" it was not my coin.

Your best shot is to know someone in those states that would be willing to ship you boxes of Lincoln cents. Other than that, I do not know.

Once again this seller has persisted with unrelenting determination to call his auction a doubled die that it is not. On top of that, he has a habit of citing names that he appears to be unfamiliar with.

While he has received e-mails concerning the errors in his auctions, he seems reluctant to change the format or information.
