    SBA $ mint mark

Okay, I have enough trouble with the type one and type two mint marks for the 1981 proof sets. So as I was looking at the SBA coin in the pictures attached, I see what is what think is machine doubling of the mint mark. ot sure, and still working the type 1 or 2 question, However, as I was moving it around I noticed there an outline of another S, more specifically the top portion of another “S”. Any questions let me know.
    Please give me your thoughts.

      Type 2

It appears to me than the "S" mintmark is a type 2 "S." According to my research the type 2 uas a flat area at the top portion of the "S" Photo number two shows the flat spot starting at about 12 oclock and continues until the curve starts its downward path at about 11 oclock. The type 1 "S" is consistently curved all along the top of the "S."

      Just my opinion.

Okay, I broke into the set and seems to be the coating applied to proof's. Like it had got gooped up. More of a damage issue. it didn't budge when touched.

Thansk for the clarification on type one and two. I'd see it one way then another. but the way Merlin explained it made it clearer. I'll go back over other sets and see if there are any.
