CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1963 cent with extra arm on Liberty's "y"

    Found this 1963 cent with the ”Y” in liberty having an extra arm just under the right arm. See attached photos. Has someone seen this before? How should it be classified?

    The Y in Liberty appears to have been damaged outside of the mint. It seems that the right arm of the Y has been sheared off from this damage and placed to the right of the right of it. Unusual and a conversation piece, but no add value can be placed on this mishap.

      Interesting..Im leaning towards what BJ said but also it appears after this coin was struck the metal was weak in that area ..
