  • 2013 Doubled Die Reverse Canada Loonie Dollar

This was found in a 2013 Canada Uncirculated set. There is very strong doubling over the entire reverse especially on CANADA, DOLLAR, the trees, and beads around the rim. Not sure what has happen at the Royal Canadian Mint recently, since strong doubled dies on Canadian coins do not happen that often. There have been several strong doubled dies reported on the obverse and reverse of the Loonie, 100th Grey Cup dollar, and reverse of the 25 cent 2012 dated coins. The attached pictures that were taken by Ben Dombrowski and I attribute him as the first to sell one on ebay. I am trying to take pictures of my own, but have had a tough time with the lighting. In this particular mint set, the 2013 TWOONIE also has a minor doubled die on the obverse.

The example I have is still in the mint set, making it hard to photograph. I have another example coming that is not the mint set. There have been several on ebay for sale over the last couple of weeks. With only 75,000 mint sets being made, I wonder if the RCM took action to remove the die.

I had to remove your last post since it violates our forum rules concerning advertising.

It is a very nice doubled die by the way.
