  • 1972P Kennedy Half Dollar- Possibly New DDO

Found this 72P JFK roll searching earlier this week.

It's not matching the 72P DDO-001 (CONECA) Cherry Pickers Guide 5th Ed Vol II- Pg 320 as a ref.

The doubling/tripling? of I on the "IN" looks different and there is a huge die crack/break going across the T in LIBERTY. I have a few 72P DDO-001's and none of them have this on the Obverse.

It's either a new DDO or maybe a different die state of the 001?

I've sent pics etc to Dr Wiles. He is willing to look at the coin in hand etc .

I'll be sending it to him this week and post results.

Did you consider Series Doubling, SDO-001?

Yes , I did look at that listing also.

Doesn't appear to match that coin.

        Thanks for the help,

        Chuck.

The doubling I see on the I of IN looks like series doubling. In regards to the rest of the doubling I see in your photos, if not series doubling, it looks to minor to be concerned with.

Coin is being sent to Dr Wiles for attribution.

I'll post his finding when known.
