CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Breen numbers Catalog

I purchased a 1984 S Proof set of clad coins on E-Bay. All of the coins seem to have RPM S over S mintmarks and the seller stated all the coins are listed in the Breen catalog or book.

I tried getting the Breen numbers without success. Supposedly the Breen"s Complete Encyclopedia of US and Colonial Coins is/was posted online for free to allow people to look up the Breen numbers. However, that site is NOT presently working. There was information on other associated pages for Breen that there was a copywrite issue and owership issue.

Anyone have any further information on the book or ability to access these Breen numbers? Thanks in advance for your response.

I don't see any Breen numbers for any of the 1984 RPM proofs that you mention. But the seller wasn't completely wrong....each coin is assigned a Breen number, just like each Morgan is assigned a VAM number, just nothing for a 84 proof RPMs. Maybe there is a later edition than I have that does illustrate Breen numbers for these. My book is from 1988 and these coins may not have been found yet.
If you have a question, please ask. Remember, there are no stupid questions.....just stupid people who ask questions.
