    1964 quarter BU-damage?

Greetings, I am new to this forum. I have recently been looking closer aty my coins and purchased a micro cam which has created a new monster. I see lots of things, but often don't know what I am looking at.
I have some rolls of unsearched BU 1964 quarters, so I finally got around to looking a some. This scanned image should show damage of some sort to the letter and numbers on the inside of the rim area. Can some one tell me what it is called and it was created?
Surprising how much crud is in on the coins. Appears to be grease, sometimes clear and other times oxidized, with minute pieces of silver imbedded in it.

Mint gunk, hardened grease with metal flakes mixed in. I have seen it on Lincoln cents (1960-D (SD) fresh out of the bag) as well, except the flakes of metal were copper.

Your scans are just a bit too small to tell what kind of damage is on that coin.

      1964 quarter-damage

I'll post some more detailed of the damage I am trying to ID. As these coins have been in the original 1964 rolls and uncirculated it puzzels me.

        1964 QUARTER DAMAGE

These micro cam pics may better show the damage? There is a distinct flatness to the letters and numbers around the outer part of the coin. It occurs on both obv. and rev.there are also many very fine lines in them. I wonder if it is from being struck-thru something or if it occurred after the coin was minted and a machine of some sort did it.

          1964 quarter-more pics

@ more pics from the micro-cam. This is the same quarter, better shows the flatness and marks on number six, and the die break with what appears to me to be some form of doubling on the initials.

I see no damage, and it's unlikely that "grease" is responsible for the appearance of these letters. It's simply that the letters didn't strike up completely. This is exceedingly common.

              1964 QUARTER DAMAGE?

Mike Diamond, thank you for your prompt reply.
I may submit some pics to help clarify some rev. doubling on many of the coins.
              Thanks again.

same batch of 1964-p quarters- doubling?

Is this doubling on the eagle's talons? if so does it carry any significance?
