1982-P Jefferson Nickels
I got a roll of 1982-P Jefferson nickels from a bank and they were all B/Unc. However a good number of them looked to be from deteriated dies with evidence of die clashes on both sides, fat letters and curiously deep impressions on Jefferson's head. The depressions are at the temple and at the hairline above the forehead. I am not familiar how this extra metal on the die would cause these depressions.

Thank You
Thank you for your input Mr. Diamond. If you might give an opinion, does the die deteriation affect the vallue of the coins? I know the deteriation does NOT give any extra value, but does this same die deteriation lower the value of the uncirculated coins? Obviously, a coin without the die deteriation would be worth more, but if the coin has this die deteriation but would be considered an MS63, would it still carry the value of a MS63 or would it be lower?

The Indentations
I am mostly interested in the indentations at the temple area and the hairline area of the Jefferson portrait. My imagination tells me that the die deformation thru deteriation seems to have moved metal "buildup" in these two areas in order to have the deeper impressions there. Would that be a correct assumption?
