Really tough to tell in these pictures. There are about 25 known DDR's for 1971 and Several for 1972. You should try and get some higher quality photos and repost them. I do have the Authoritative Reference of Eisenhower Dollars Second Edition by Wexler, Crawford and Flynn here but its simply just a guess at this point with those photos. Also could you take a picture of the whole coin. There are several PUP's (Pick up Points) to look at when looking for a certain variety.

Thank you jamez. I have a couple of different ways to take pictures but what is actually a good camera? I guess instead of just buying them I should read up on it! Thanks I will do that and then take some better pictures.

Well I don't do anything fancy here so probably the wrong person to answer this.

I use a basic point and shoot camera with a good macro setting. Canon 1100. I attach it to a security camera stand that I had left over from a job I did to make my shots steady. set the timer for 2 seconds and push the button.. wait about 3 seconds and I have my full photo. For really close up shots, I purchased a USB QZ7 camera, its actually for kids I believe but does the job for my needs. It has 10x, 60x and 200x settings and cost like $80. I can zoom in and see it on my computer screens.

Here are two shots.. the first with the Canon, the second with the QX7

I then use Photoscape to crop the pictures
