CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 2015-P Jefferson DDR?

I used to search nickels a lot, and I have never noticed one like this. Notice the small "bar" on the underside of the top of the center door. Looking at it under a loupe, it appears to strongly mimick the doubled column Lincoln cents, and the more recent Mt. Rushmore & Homestead quarters. Considering that the majority of doubled dies produced by the single squeeze hubbing process are minor and centrally located, do you think there is a decent chance this could be a DDR?

I have a couple more images, with different lighting angles. I can post them if needed. My iPhone names every picture image.jpg so I can only attach 1 per post or they overwrite each other.

It's not a chip. It could be a perfectly placed die dent, I guess. But if you turn it sideways, it looks just like a doubled column Lincoln.

          UPDATE

          UPDATE:

I sent an email with images to James Wiles and Brian Ribar. I haven't heard from Ribar yet, but Dr. Wiles replied,
          "Jay:
It certainly looks good. I would love to see it.
          Thanks,
          James Wiles".

So, if everything checks out in hand, it may get listed at variety vista.

                    UPDATE!

                    UPDATE!
I got an email from James Wiles a few minutes ago. He said, "The nickel is a new listing. DDR-001, 1-R-VIII, stage A, EDS. Congratulations!"

I'm very happy with this! This is the first doubled die I've ever sent for a "first reported" find! Thanks all for helping me confirm this find.
