CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Alaska quarter 7 claws? (opening a can of worms)

I hate to revisit this subject but wanted to know if there is a possibility that there is an extra claw between the 3rd and 4th claw from the top claw on the bears paw. To me it doesn't look like a die chip (probably wrong)... Between the 4th and 5th claw looks to be a die chip. The coin also shows die chips between the T and H of THE, one on the bottom arm of the E in GREAT, and also between the A and N of LAND. Thanks for the responses.

This is a die chip. I went through a few rolls and over half had die chips in the claw and there were at least four different.
