Thank you coin pro. I actually bought 150 sets from 57 to 64 and I found one. I thought my eyes were messed up so I put it down. I picked up another and the same darn thing so I actually found 2 but the other is only a 61 or 62.
None the less I was excited.

animater9,
If you could be more specific in the future, it would be helpful. In looking at the way you had the numbers just thrown in there, I as a past editor of CPG, had no clue. You mentioned a proof set and made no mention of a Franklin half dollar anywhere - not in title (as you state) not in your message -- nowhere. What I saw was some numbers without being preceded by a FS designation and mention of a proof set. NGC does certify proof sets.
Also, it would be a good idea to keep in mind that no matter what somebody's title is, it does not mean they share the same interests as you. Lets assume that Jim didn't collect die varieties and his interest was Striking errors, how would he know? Why would you expect he should know?
The fact that he was nice enough to try to figure out what your question was about should have given you a clue to act in a less than condescending way.
Just my opinion based on what I've seen here.Ken Potter

I was sure that I had apologized for what I had said? If not I apologize for that now!
It is however funny that I get chastised for anything? Since I have been a member of CONECA I have been treated like a leper. I have been told by a board member that if I wanted to know about errors go to coin talk that the members here don't reply (now this was a board member telling me that, go somewhere else because members of MY own group didn't have time, LOL). Not to continue telling what else has happened because it has already been said in another post (that was swept under the rug by all but one), also because our members are too busy.
When I joined this group I was so excited to be a part of something that I thought I could help make a difference, but since I have found that if you don't have many titles in your name your questions fall on def ears. After talking to other past members and even some regular members I have found this to be true. I was under the impression that we were to pass out knowledge by EDUCATING? Im not sure how we educate or pass on knowledge if we yell people to go elsewhere, or better yet just not answer at all?
Again I'm not going to beat this dead horse because it is starting to get moldy and it will just be swept under the rug anyway. I do APOLOGIZE again to Jim first for not listing my excitement in the correct manner, and second I may be wrong but I think Jim is the only one that took the time to contact me about the things that have happened. I am a person that likes to help and educate, I believe that everyone needs to k ow about our hobby. I had so many plans when I joined but have since come to find that my help and enthusiasm isn't needed when we already have so many educators on our rolls.
From now on I will keep my opinions to myself and if I need help with something I guess I can always go to coin talk like I was instructed. I am sure we can see now why obtaining new members in groups is hard! Their really just a bother anyway.
Jamez again I am SORRY for incorrectly listing my error that I am so happy about. I am Sorry for not giving you the respect that you deserve. That was never my intention what I said was ment to be a joke. I'm SORRY it was taken the wrong way.
Sincerely David J Hughes
Now for me I will pull my big boy pants on and go on with my day. As for you Mr. koinpro I hope your day goes well also. I have learned that all good leaders (when they want to scold someone) takes them behind closed doors. Good Leaders don't feel the need to flex their mussles

Settle down David. You had questioned my knowledge with your remark and Ken simply stated that he edited the CPG and he didn't know what you were talking about. I see no foul here. Keep in mind that alot gets lost in writing that people take for granted when facial features and motions are added into a conversation. You stood up and seen that you missed an important part of your post and made amends to that. But thats all behind us.. Relax, enjoy the forum and remember if you cast out a stone you might get one or two tossed back at you. Happens to me all the time!
We are all learning as this hobby is taking off like a rocket. There are some highly intelligent people here and more are being added so share away and learn with us. Also keep in mind that nobody knows everything, although there are some that claim to. I can tell you that there are two of the top Error/Variety people in the world visiting this board on a regular basis. Ken Potter aka koinpro and Mike Diamond. The two of them also disagree on different things and if you read some of the post you will see that. BUT... at the end of the day, they agree to disagree, remain friends and move on. Heck even I have disagreed with both of them! I still have a TON of respect for their opinions.Proud Member: CONECA, TEC, HVNS, NS, ANA

animater9,
I agree with Jim. I do want to clarify on a few things. When this forum was started I agreed to answer questions. All any of the moderators at that time had to do was contact me as per that instruction. Nobody contacted me. These folks are no longer here as moderators or administrators and we are now building a good teem of which I am the newest as a moderator. You might wonder, why I wasn't on the message boards all the time previously? The answer is that up until very recently, they were not my cup of tea. I still remembered to old usenet.collectors, coins forum were it was like the wild west, flame wars all day for days long and tons of misinformation. I preferred to add content to the web site of which I was the web master for 10 years. So I did my share in my own way. We all need to do it our way to round out the package or something is missing. I have now let new-blood take over and moved to another Board Seat and now have time to spend here helping Jim get questions answered.
On your issues of old. Those were with one Board Member, not the entire Board. What one Board Members does, should not be considered a reflection of what the entire Board thinks. You may not know it but he was advised of the proper manner in which to answer such questions as you had without sending somebody away. He could have suggest that you contact me or one of the other long-time specialists in the field directly. He didn't but he should have. I'm sure I'll answer better next time he fields such a question. The Board has responded.
Also, bear in mind that you are posting in the worst area possible -- the general forum. NOBODY comes here. You should post questions about errors under "Errors" and questions about varieties under "Varieties". There they will get some play but where you are at now, you could have sat there for moths without me having any idea.
Anyway, hang in there. My comments were only to let you know that Jim was trying to help. If you get upset with the cashier because the cost of beef went up, sometimes the response is less than enthusiastic.Last edited by koinpro; 05-20-2015, 01:07 PM.Ken Potter

carried away
Well I can tell you both that toe jam doesn't go on bread with peanut butter, nor straight in your mouth without peanut butter. Yes I'm hot headed and sometimes take things said (and say) the wrong way. I haven't had much luck here in this group and not sure who's fault it is or isn't. I haven't given up yet!
I posted here in this group because my happiness doesn't fit in any other. There weren't any questions I had just smiles and hurrays that I wanted to share. That is all. My comment to jamez was just messing with him. I will pay better attention to how I respond even when HAPPY! most assuredly when I'm not. Have a Great day to BOTH of you. If I can ever help you with anything in anyway (like a novice can help himself much less you two) let me know.
