CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1944 D Dime feeder finger marks ?

I believe these are feeder finger marks showing on Rev and Obv .DSC01576.jpgDSC01577.jpg

I have been under the impression that feeder finger marks were elongated scrapes across the die. I hope someone will respond to your question with a definitive answer!

Very doubtful that a feeder finger caused this. I see no way for it to happen. My guess is that it was some type of post mint damage and nothing else.. Perhaps a jewelry bezel.

I have been told that these are feeder finger die gouges (beneath unum).

Thank you . I was kind of thinking maybe a jewelry bezel myself .They are not to evenly spaced so they did not put much effort into quality if that's what it is .The reverse with the raised metal was a little odd to me .

The dime is damaged. Probably as Jim said.
