I don't think it's inverted. I think it's the wrong style of S for 1989. Dr. Wiles has a great page on San Fran mintmark styles. The S on your coin looks like MMS-014, used from 1990-1999. The 1989 should have MMS-013, used from 1985-1989. I hope I don't get edited for trying to lead you away from this great forum , but here is the link: http://varietyvista.com/San%20Franci...k%20Styles.htm. Just in case I do, I'll attach images of the two, along with a cropped image of yours. If you think it is MMS-014, you might want to contact Dr. Wiles. Could be a very cool discovery.
1st image: your cropped S
2nd image: style used for 1989 (yours should be like this)
3rd image: style used for 1990 (I think it's this one)
If you'll notice, the serifs are pointed on the MMS-014, just like yours.Last edited by jay4202472000; 09-24-2015, 10:01 PM.

Richard I really don't think it looks filled. Here's a photo of a 87 & a 89.But the mint marks don't look the same.Sorry about the reflection from the holder I would take them out for a better picture but I don't have any more holders.Image686.jpgImage687.jpg
