CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Larry's first picture makes it clear that it is a damage that causes the Mintmark to appear as if doubled.

Why is this photo so different from the first photo? Where did the keyhole-shaped feature go?
I belive that it is the lighting. I have two of these coins (there are alot more out there) and both show the same stuff. One might show it alittle better/stronger than the other but I had to pick one to send. I'm quite sure that I sent him the same coin that I had taken photos of...but I guess there could have been a mix up.

      Bill,
Any idea on what type of damage?

          1932-s rpm?

Speedy, is the mint mark with the square shape common on all coins you've seen?
          Thanks, Bill

Yes---the coins that I've seen match the photos that you have taken.
You can see the photos on this thread seem to match up pretty well.

Speedy, do you mind if I post your photo of your mint mark on my thread- in Sub Gallery- I'm wondering do you or anyone know how many dies were used and if this mint mark was used on all of them? Thanks Bill

From what I've seen this is the only style mintmark used for this year. I believe that is also what Mr Wiles says, but I don't have that info in front of me right now.
It is common for people to say that there was 1-2 dies used. I believe that there were quite a few more....
