CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1993 Proof Lincoln Cent - Close AM

    Hello, I was going through my proof set looking for the close AM cent and I came across one in my 1993 set.
    The thing is though that I have checked a couple of coin sites and most make no mention of a 1993 proof set containing a close AM cent.
    The PCGS site makes mention of 1999 and 1998 sets with a close AM but no mention of a 1993 set.
    I am excited about my discovery and I have attached HDR photos of the cent. I would like your professional opinion

      I agree. Late last night I dug around on a few coin sites and seen where a Close AM was struck on a 1992-D cent and it fetched over 20 grand at auction. The article basically said that the mint embraced the close AM in 1993. Then, from what I see, in 1994, the proof sets went back to a Wide AM. 1993 was just an oddball year. Yesterday, I emailed the owner and let him see the three Close AM's I had stuck away in the safe.

        I'm also checking the BS strike for 93, hoping to find a wide AM ...
