1964 Roosevelt Dime Obverse Die Clash - Nose

It could very well be. I don't have a Roosevelt overlay handy to see what matches up.
My only concern is this. If it IS a die clash, the clashing die would have to be stuck pretty darn deep to affect that area, since the devices are engraved into the die.
I like to use the analogy of sticking a coin into some rolled out play dough. That coin impression will be how the die looks, with all the devices "punched" or dug into the die. The surface, or field of the coin would be flat. In order for the reverse die to hit that area only, and not affect any of the flat field area or other devices that are closer to the flat surface level of the die is perplexing.
To me, it looks like it may be extra metal build up inside the die itself. As this die is hammering out thousands of coins, some of the design is surely going to get caked with extra metal, grease and possibly even some foreign material. Mike Diamond or Ken Potter can provide the more accurate attribution when they can find the time. I hope my alternate possibility is clear enough.Last edited by MintErrors; 09-30-2016, 11:30 PM.
