1924 Peace Dollar with large neck "bump" and reverse die pitting???

Here is an interesting 1924 Peace Dollar with a raised oval bump on the neck (?). The reverse shows numerous raised areas to the north...possible pitted reverse???

This coin looks circulated, so it is difficult to say what happened to it. Only if these coins could tell us the tale of their travels would we truly know what happened to them.

On the obverse - is any part of that bump sink into the coin ? Could someone have used a circular punch to make an "O" on her neck?

Does the Reverse have a dent in the same location as the bump on the obverse?

The bump has no opposing strike on the reverse, nor does the bump exhibit any sinking in proximity. It is hard and raised. First one like this I have ever seen.

I have seen an article about this condition before. It was about Lincoln cents and I THINK it was about hardness or strike testing. Mike Diamond hangs out in the Mint Errors side of the forum. You may have to private message him and provide him a link to this post and he can offer his opinion.
