CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1954 Lincoln Cent RPM - What's up with this coin?!

I'm trying to decipjer what is going on with this 1954-D Lincoln Cent RPM. I was about done attributing it and I turned the coin and noticed additional items west of the main crossbar and something funky going on inside the center of the "D". I will concentrate on the "D".

For me, this is one of those odd ball, head scratchin' coins. It's at least a D/D/D, due to it not being separated enough, it probably is not listed on CONECA. I'll investigate it over at coppercoins, probably over the weekend.

    Have a Look !

While I'm not sure what's going on inside the D, for sure there is tripling on the serifs, but as you say too minor for CONECA listing. I generally don't put a lot of weight on anomalies in the middle of the D unless something shows outside as well.
