CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

1952-D RPM, Unable to find a match

    1952-D RPM, Unable to find a match

    I have seven of this RPM, and although it might be too minor for CONECA, I cannot seem to find a match on Coppercoins either.

    All seven have the same reverse die and same markers on the obverse and reverse.

    Looks like a long slender split upper serif, semi curled. The lower serif appears to be split, but just a fraction of it shows.
    The Fourth photo shows the mintmark the best, maybe even a "tilted" line on the outside of the vertical bar.

    Looking at Lincoln's head it's a wonder how long it lasted because it looks as if it is about to crumble.

    I have a bunch of 52D that show minor split serifs and such like this one does. If you search enough 52D BU rolls you'll end up with a bunch yourself, and it can be very frustrating to attempt to attribute them since they are all very similar. Interestingly, your coin appears to have a tripled lower serif. There are a few of these but fewer than doubled serifs.

      Hunh, Last night I added another photo showing the tripled serif and the way the "D's" overlapped each other. Let me go get the flash drive and add it again. This one appeared a little wider east to west than others, and I stumbled on why. It looks like one is overlapping the other. The mint worker that added the "D" may have tapped this three times in succession as there is very little separation on the lower serif.

      I have quite a few RPM's, and my goal is to document at least some of them. I may submit this to coppercoins and see if they can pull a match out of their hat. But with that separation line going from the side of the coin to the top, it may qualify for a CONECA listing as well. I will take another look, but there were only a handful of 52-D's listed at VarietyVista.com .
