CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1990 penny so interesting reverse doubled

    Hello all/ Bob
    this Lincoln cent has unusual reverse doubling with some light notches almost in all letters ..opinions please

        Welcome! There might be a touch of split plate doubling as well. I can't quite see. If there is notching, you'd definitely need much closer photos.

            I do not see notching, only die wear/fatigue manifesting itself into a type of shadow doubling. There may be split plating as well.

              Those shadow lines always appears as notches in letter its looks like weak splits inside the litters

                You have no idea what notching is. What ever you're seeing is something else related to die wear or split plating and on most Lincoln cents past 1982.

                Here are my diagrams (using an overlay) showing how during a multi hub process the misalignment of the serifs, or other small details on the ends of a device, cause NOTCHED coroners and split serifs.
