CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Rookie here so feel free to burst my buble...is this the 88 with the 89 reverse? Looks different than my other 88s but not sure. Thanks in advance

    Looks like I am going to have to bust your bubble, if you had a 1988 with a 1989 reverse, the 89 reverse initials would be extremely strong and just as raised as the memorial building. However, on your coin, the initials are very weak, typical of an 1988 with an 1988 reverse. Sorry, but keep trying!

      As coin hunter said, the reverse of 89 dies would all have strong FGs since they were only used towards the end of the year when the mint ran out of 88 reverses. I have never seen an example of a reverse of 89 that had a worn reverse die.
