  • 1972 Kennedy Half- DDO but not the FS-101????

So, I'm going through a box of halves and found my first 72 DDO FS-101. In that same roll, I came across this 72 that the "Y" in LIBERTY appears to have a fairly strong split in it. I haven't been able to find anything other than the FS-101. Am I losing my mind and my eyes going that bad?

This is why I posted these here as I can't find anything on this and wanted opinions on the "Y" as it appears to be a legit double.

I am not seeing it. I see the Y it looks like a normal y to me I would have moved on to the next coin. If you feel that strongly about it set it a side and come back to it in a year and relook at it. When you get more experience you learn to see what is there. I went through when I first started I still have the box of coins I set aside I look at them from time to time and pass on what I thought was something new. Hope this helps I don't know your experience in this field of coin collecting but there is a lot to learn . I have 30 books on RPM"s and double dies and have read all of them. One great book is Allen Hubert"s Mint errors is a must read it really helps. Good luck TD

When I look at your photo of TRUST I don't see it being the 72 DDO-001 FS-101. The strongest doubling on the 72 DDO-001 is on TRUST, see attached photo of the LDS 72 DDO-001 from my collection. If the only doubling you see on your half dollar is on the Y of LIBERTY, I think it would be a very minor doubled die or an example of series doubling.
