CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

These mint marks were punched in the die. Its normal. They can be all over that area. The 5 isnt lower, its the MM that was punched closer. Its not an error. Nice BIE though.

Nice BIE! The image of the die chip is not very clear, but it looks like a it is a 55S-FL+ in the Hardy index system. In the 1969 edition of “THE CLASSIFICATION AND VALUE OF ERRORS ON THE LINCOLN CENT” by Jean Cohen your coin would be listed on page 49. There has been some discussion of making a PDF version of her book on the CONECA web site as they have the copy rights to the book.

Thanks Mr. Stevens. A PDF version of that book would be very helpful! You referenced that source for one of my posts recently but the book is difficult to find. Please count my vote as an interested party.
