CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

Unusual Mint mark. Keep or re-roll?

    Unusual Mint mark. Keep or re-roll?

    The inside of the mint mark on this 1938 D Buffalo nickel has an unusual sliver of material on the inside of the "D" It does not match any of the known RPM's. Do you think part of the curved inside portion of the "D" has broken off? Keep or re-roll as post mint damage?

    Interesting for sure. I would try to loosen some of that gunk around the MM to get a better view.

      That looks like the FS-512 to me. It's the OMM not the RPM, IMHO.

        Yep. I agree. Thats its. I didnt go look for an attribution. Good reason why you didnt find it in the RPMs. Great find!!

          What they are saying is look at it as a 38D over S.

            Right...lol. I probably could have explained it better. If you go to Variety Vista, instead of looking at RPM, look at OMM. Again, great find!

              Thanks everyone. In 2 years you have dragged me from raw beginner to officially being a beginner... I feel that if this was karate, I would be getting one of those very light colored belts
