1943 D Lincoln Error Cent
This coin could possibly be a double or triple error. The four pictures show doubling, possibly tripling, displayed on the ear. We have 15 of these coins and have sent two to NGC, waiting for them to be returned. This coin comes from an uncirculated roll and appears to be in mint state.Last edited by N-6849; 03-03-2022, 06:27 PM.Tags: None

100% this coin has been replated, and badly done. Definitely NOT an OBW roll. Someone plated them. Its all damage now. Everything you’re seeing is damage from being plated. If you sent ones like this to NGC, you wasted your money, they will all get details grade.Last edited by Kloccwork419; 03-03-2022, 07:23 PM.

Klocc is right, they did a horrible job. Most of the high end MS version I have seen like 67 or better are not this shiny. It seems to be a more dull flat luster. The take away should be look at the details of the letters and numbers. IF this was a brand new high end uncirculated coin, the letters, numbers and even his hair line would be more pronounced. I suggest looking at any certified slabbed steel cent at ms63 or higher and compare.Gary Kozera

Definitely replated. The field striations and high gloss surface is a dead give away. If you look at the surface of all genuine coins, the die polish lines are generally from the center outward. I have an MS63 1943 and the fields have a flatter luster. Sorry to say that you wasted your money on grading. I never send a questionable coin for grading until I'm certain that all questionable issues have been resolved. Most of the time that involves a lot of research and the knowledgeable people here and at coin shows. I've made my share of costly mistakes, but learned from them.
