  • 1981-S Susan B. Anthony type 1 or 2?

I looked at my mint mark and in my opinion it doesn't look like either one.
Which one is this one? Is there a type III?

I used reference pictures for comparison. Mine is the middle one.

I also included 2 other images.

IMO - It is harder to ID 1981S Type I vs. Type II than it is for the 1979S Type I vs. Type II. But from your photos, I'd be willing to bet your coin is a Type I (i.e. the same style as the 1979S Type II).

Mint marks were punched in those days and even the same style of mint mark can have a different appearance from one die to another. It all depends on how deep they were punched, how much polishing the mint worker did within the loops of the S, etc. Here are some examples I did showing different looks in the 1979 S Type I vs. Type II (showing 2 examples of each Type II). In some cases, the same Type mint marks looks very different from eachother. Note the left-most photo of the dime and quarter. Don't those almost look like 1981 Type II mint marks?
