‘88-D LMC Transitional?
Take a look at this and tell me what you think. There is a seemingly distinct serif on the top left side of the vertical bar on the G. However the vertical bar of the G Im not sure extends below the lower curve of the G so I’m torn on what to make of this. The die marks seem to line up with WTRD-001 so I wanted a better pair of eyes to take a look. Honestly when I compare this coin to both a normal FG and the Rev of ‘’89 FG it doesn’t look like either one. Thank you in advance for any feedback.

For me, the background glare on these photos makes it very hard to determine what is what. In my opinion it is better for me to have a slightly darker image that I can artificially brighten than a very bright reflective photo.
On your photo I cannot make out what is between the AT in STATES, but I think John W is pointing at scratches with 2 arrows per scratch.
The "die chip" under the IN is not shaped the same. The one in John W's example on the IN photo, die scratches are running south east to north west. Your coin die scratches are running south west to north east.
That "G" is either damaged or it simply is die deterioration, I cannot make out the right side of the G to tell what it is to tell you the truth.Gary Kozera

Gary, here are some more pics. I did the best I could and dropped the lighting. I think you may be right. I think the vertical bar is damaged and has been smeared to the left creating the illusion of that inside horizontal serif. When I took the pic upside down the G looked much more like the original reverse. I’m doubting more and more this is a transitional. Take a look…..Attached Files- 4776AC7A-99ED-46FD-A99E-E1D92FED5C09.jpeg (127.2 KB, 29 views)

Yes I’m well aware the bu rolls are not original bank rolls. I speak personally with the sellers who sell them to me. They buy mint sealed bags and make their own rolls. I only have one gentleman who truly has original rolls and you can tell. Most rolls and dealers I stay away from because their just too shady. I only deal with about 2 people and that’s because we communicate on a 1 on 1 level and their rolls are what they claim them to be when I get them.

I don't know if I kept the photos, but I had one of these last year. I had a client produce a list and it was on his want list. He bought some rather expensive coins off me ( a Lincoln cent DDO, and two OMM's). The coin was uncirculated so I just tossed it in for free. Later today I am swamped but free after 4pm eastern. If I can find those photos over the next few days I will post them here. I don't know how much that will matter - as we won't be sure it is from the exact same die unless the markers match up.Last edited by MintErrors; 03-22-2022, 05:54 AM.Gary Kozera

One last note I think this is a GREAT reference for these type of coins.
