CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Tim, I believe all the doubling (3) you show on this half matches the 64PR DDO-009 in my collection, even the light triple spread on the hair above the ear you show, but it is the RDV-001, not the RDV-002. I believe what has happened with this DDO-009 is there was a Reverse Die Change replacing the RDV-001 with the RDV-002. In April 2008 I had sent what I thought was the case of the die change to James Wiles and his comment was, "DDO is too minor to list". Maybe it is time to review this as a reverse die changed.

      Larry,

      Thank you for your reply.

      I sent my copy of this variety to James Wiles back on 03/02/2015 and got the dreaded “Too minor to List”, it is also paired with the RDV-001. This is one of the coins that every time I look at it, I scratch what little hair I have trying to understand why. (LOL)

        Question is... could this be listable with CONECA? It shows separation and it is a TDO.... one would think on the CONECA side, it would be?? I have seen Lincoln cents with less separation listed....

          @atrox001 Larry,

          Here is a photo of the coin in the OP, is this the die scratch you were referring:
          http://

          This photo is from another example of this variety that James Wiles also said was "Too minor to list." The scratch is a little lighter but there.

          This photo is from an example that James Wiles confirmed as the DDO-009 stage B on 08/19/2009:

              Spoke with Atrox001 (Larry N.) tonight, and he confirmed that the coin in the OP (Original Post) is not the 1964 DDO-009 or any other that is currently listed in the CONECA files. A marker for the coin in the OP is a die scratch below the hair line in the neck on stage B as seen in a previous photo and the next photo that Atrox001 took:
              http://

              The 1964-DDO-009 stage B has the following markers as photographed by Atrox001, two vertical die gouges next to the rim and another die gouge to the left of the 4 in the field.:

                I agree and also think it should be listed. I keep it in a box with other coins that have made the trip to James Wiles and came back with either "Borderline" or "Too minor to list" in the notes. Every so often, I give them the once over and try to figure out why they didn't make a listing . . .

                I do understand that a line must be drawn on what makes a coin listable in the club's files and what doesn't, I'm still trying to comprehend where that line is. . .
