Pretty common in the 1950s and 1960s. I have seen hundreds, if not thousands of these. A die chip. Too common to be worth anything.Gary Kozera

In the 1969 edition of “THE CLASSIFICATION AND VALUE OF ERRORS ON THE LINCOLN CENT” by Jean Cohen there are listings for what she called “R Dated”, small die chip or die crack off the top of the 1 in the date.
Your 1957D cent could be the 57D-R4 listed on page 115. If it is, other markers would be “Lower B in LIBERTY filled” and a “Die Chip on the Left Wheat”. Always post full images of the Obverse and Reverse, which in this case would confirm the Cohen listing.Last edited by JC Stevens; 12-26-2022, 12:18 PM.
