  • Curious tucked tail in the "3" of a 1953 Wheat penny. DDO?

I found an interesting 1953 that could be a ddo? I understand that the "3" of this year often has Machine doubling which is generally to the South and east. However, this penny is North and East. It is the "3" that really convinces me...although there is minor machine doubling, also. This penny looks to have MAJOR die polish/abrasion, around the date, which could mean they were trying to clean it up? The "tucked tail"of a "3" really makes me curious...20230406_113354.jpg 20230406_112127.jpg 20230406_113142.jpg 20230406_113622.jpg 20230406_113900.jpg

That's a statistically safe place to be! LOL
I have the Mariana State Park DDO Quarter, and that thing is really a mess!! I found it, in 2019, before it was acknowledged and everyone told me it wasn't a ddo...the "discovery coin" sold for $50K in 2021.

i think a LOT of people fail to appreciate just how difficult it is to offer up accurate information from sub-par images. from the quarter image, if i were to offer an opinion going back to when you first posted it, i would lean towards not a ddo. it is a minor one and the lighting/shadows beguile the minor thickness

i'd like to see an official sales result for a $50k quarter ddo discovery. i have a few dozen and know people that have dozens upon dozens and i really don't recall any that approach that level although there are plenty out there but for a modern quarter. sheesh.

imo, i think the only doubled part i see from the V V page is the motto. all the rest of that around the legend looks like die deterioration doubling. fwiw

i'd LOVE it if people could figure out with their setup to post images of quality like this one i took a long time ago.i think it is too much to ask, no?

Please STOP being antagonistic. The pic is fine IF you know what to look for and put in a tiny bit of effort to "google" or follow my link. You are the PROBLEM. I have better pics but this DDO is has VERY VERY distinctive issues with abrasion. The letters in "in god we trust" have INCREDIBLY large shadows. I don't think the problem is the pic as much as it is that people don't know what to look for.
HERE is a LINK to the discovery coin because apparently you need help with "google" also.
Please STOP embarrassing yourself and be a better person. Now, "LOVE" this and zip it!

Ps..."how difficult it is to offer up information". I wasn't asking you, I was telling you. It is a VERY DISTINCTIVE ddo, with VERY VERY distinctive die markers that ARE visible in my pic. I gave you the variety vista link. You have google....STOP crying to cover your inability to admit you are wrong. ...and STOP dragging me down to your level. I was thinking about joining here but not if there are whiners like you dominating the group, like all other coin groups.

pps...Ive posted clear pics in the past, and despite how OBVIOUS the ddo quarter is, people like you said, "i don't think its a match". You would have done the EXACT same thing. Heck, you might be the same person who dominates the other boards with the same nonsense. AND to say, "I don't know how to post pics" based on the quarter??? Is ridiculous. All you have to do is look at the pics in my original post. I know technology is difficult and you want to be spoon fed, but this "topic" is NOT about the quarter, it was just an EXAMPLE. I hope you learn to be a better person but im wasting my time...

Your example pic is nothing. where is the full coin view? There. I can be just like you.

ppps..."Im in the not a ddo camp"...what "camp"?? You know how to manipulate and do it. Saying "camp" leads people to believe you have a large contingent on your side, so they are less likely to diverge or give a differing opinion.

Well all I am going to offer here is, every one is entitled to opinions and observations. You are supposed to take those opinions with a grain of salt, and move on if you don't like it.

If you have had similar incidents with other people on different websites, it might not be them.

In my opinion, the responses from the original poster is excessive. Let's just say I personally will avoid assisting people in general who I believe may conflict with my logical approach. Don't bother replying, I will not see it.

I would go as far as to say those comments were not only excessive, but abusive, uncalled for, and in total violation of the rules governing posting on the forums. But then what do I know I only just joined and read all the rules myself 2 days ago!
