CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1941 ddo wheat penny?

This has indications of a ddo. The "1" could be a die chip, but there is evidence of the lower portion of a "9". The "4" also touches the second "1", and there is another possible remnant to the right of the 2nd "1". Taken TOGETHER, this leads me to believe that there is a chance of a ddo, and that maybe this is an early example before the pressure was reduced on the hubbing? Or maybe the wear, oxidation, or similar, on the penny actually helps reveal the error, like rubbing a pencil across a memo pad to reveal what what was written on the previous page? An error that could be unnoticed for this long because, lets face it, who is looking at old 1941 wheat pennies. Certainly not a major year for ddo hunters! However, I KNOW the chances are minuscule. I KNOW this, so there is no need to state the obvious (im talking to a certain type of person who dominates these forums). I also know the coin is old and worn, no need to say this either.
I'm only posting one close-up because this has been an effort in futility. My first and main content for hopeful examination has ZERO replies that are of any benefit.
The only feedback i've gotten, on anything, since i've been here is "non-educated". No logic or informative post. Just: "its not a known variety, so no". THAT is not an informed or educated opinion. That is a bigoted opinion.
The FIRST thing to know is that searching for error coins IS a effort to find what ISN'T already known. THAT goes without saying. So, "negative Nelly" isn't saying anything. I know they will claim that I'm upset because it isn't what I want, but that isn't true. Its upsetting for people to comment by just saying, "no, because I say so". Say, "good luck, but (something informative and educated)".
I know members get first priority but I don't know what "priority" means on this site??? If non-member gets nothing what does a member get?? An informative post like, "members wait months for an informed consensus of 5 qualified people, while members get a consensus informed opinion in days", would go a long way. Will becoming a member be more of the same or not??
