CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    1989 DDO-004

    Found this 1989 Lincoln penny which I believe is variety vista DDO-004? It also has something going on above In God We Trust. IMG_1212.jpeg IMG_1207.jpeg IMG_1209.jpeg IMG_1206.jpeg IMG_1211.jpeg IMG_1213.jpeg IMG_1214.jpeg

    i'd like to help but from looking at the images on the V V page, i can say without going any further, i'm not the one to help on this one. the differences appear so minor that it is going to take some work to pin it down, if it is a ddo that is.

    i will say that from the polishing lines, you SHOULD be able to work out which one it is, IF it is one.

    i'll link the page for anyone else up to the challenge although i'm sure they are listed on probably a few other sites.

    happy hunting and attributing!

      Why do you think it is DDO-004DDO-0ask because. To be blunt, the photos do not show me enough to see its a doubled die. If thebphotos were clearer, more focused on the DDO portion than distractions, we might be able to help.

      Mr. Wiles says for DDO 004;
      Description: Medium extra thickness on date and TRUST.
      That's it. Unless there is a sure-fire thicker devices on TRUST, followed by some extra thickness on the date, in my opinion, I would be very skeptical about it. The s ratches on the obverse and reverse may be there, and even partial or faintly might seal the attribution.

      One thing to realize about doubled dies is that those dies that are doubled are sunk or incused into metal. The location the attributors show, is done for a reason....the doubling locations don't move.

      Bottom line is, photos are worth thousands of words IF they are sufficient enough to help us help you. Photos and lighting are painful to get at times. Try your best to give us either a very detailed text writeup of what you see, or better clear photos with no glare and we may be able to help.

      I will check to see if I have this DDO in the stirage unit this weekend. I doubt it, since I am not in love with Zinc cents what so ever. If i do have it I will snap some photos under the AMScope microscope.

        I guess it was the 9 on the date which looked like on 9 on variety vista and the scratches on the back around the one cent. I do struggle getting good pictures and I’m relatively new at error coin collecting. I do struggle to get good , clear magnified images. I’ll see if I can get some better images
