CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1947 Lincoln Cent DDO-001

I went to my storage unit a few weeks ago and started planning things for my new server build. I needed to know what varieties I currently have in stock and a rough idea of how many. I opened up a box named DDO/DDR and quickly counted the coins within. My eyes caught a coin in a snap tite style holder labeled 1947 DDO. I put that in the box to bring back to the studio before heading home.

I decided to offer photos of this coin, to show some of the people struggling to ID a doubled die. This coin is lightly circulated. In my opinion you can clearly see doubling on some of the devices. I have over 10 photos to show, so it will require a reply to this as well. Enjoy. Hope it brightens up some of them light bulbs.

I have a lot of rpms and doubled dies. Next year, I hope to have plenty of time to educate and eventually sell a lot of these varieties. My goal was to stock pile rpms and doubled dies from 1930s to the 1970s. I think I easily under estimated the potential. Now, it should be fun to liquidate these and focus on something else.

Hello Gary, I am looking at the two pictures of Mr. Lincoln's' beard. The parallel lines at 45 degrees looks to me like some polishing marks. I have seen some like this on Jefferson nickels. Thoughts or comments?

              Bruce,

I considered these good markers or pick up points. To me, in my opinion, they are not worth anything other than to cement an attribution. I tried to photograph the tie which has the same condition, but due to the angle, whether i changed angle of lights or coin, it did not come out as planned.
