CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

2023-P Lincoln Cent DDO (Double Ear)

    2023-P Lincoln Cent DDO (Double Ear)

    Good day everyone,

    I have been diligently looking for new errors on the 2023-P lincoln cents and came across several coins that appear to have a DDO that appears to be a Double Ear. I have pictures that have been forwarded to Mr. Wiles and he asked me to post them here for a pre-attribution review by the folks on this forum. The photos have degraded slightly from transfer from scope/phone to computer, but I believe the error is easy anough to see. I am wondering if anyone else has attributed a 2023-P Double ear to date. I have seen 1 DDO 2023-D but have not seen the philly coin represented as of yet. Please tell me if I am in the right part of the forum or need to take my questions to another location. thank you for your time.

    Does anyone have an opinion on my coin? This is my first time on this site and looking for some help here before I submit this coin erroneously. Please give me an idea of what I've found, if anything.

      I am not a big fan of ear, eye or column doubling, so I won't opinion about it.

      Go to the CONECA services
      Go to ATTRIBUTIONS forum
      Add a post with as much info...text and photos as possible.
      Best to have enough info for the CONECA staff to attribute the coin.
      The 2nd pass on posts may take quite some time so best pack that first post...
      The staff may take quite a while to respond. They are volunteers.
      They will decide if it needs to be seen in hand or not.

      in my opinion, this is not a doubled ear, might be some sort of worthless doubling. But, again, i do not collect nor attribute ear, eye or column doubled dies.

        Thank you for the response. I appreciate your help. I am actually looking at the 2023 Lincoln cent and trying my best to add a VDBV cent to my collection. As you would know it I keep running into several coins like this and also, of course, cracked die issues. Again I appreciate your help and will move along. Thanks.
