  • 1962 LINCOLN MEMORIAL PROOF CENT DDR?

Hello CONECA, I am looking at a very nicely toned 1962 Lincoln proof. I see some very pronounced doubling (oval shaped) of the dots in 'E P U'. Plus some spread in 'E P U'. I can not find any additional die markers. Don't seem to be able to match it to an existing DDR. Thoughts or comments?

Greetings, I am not seeing the Oval shape in the Interpuncts "Dots" of EPU, this is defiantly one of my PuP`s I go to when looking for a DDR. Not seeing the spread of the devices as well, the light may be interfering too much causing a halo around the letters of EPU. Can you photograph both Obverse and Reverse of the coin ?, and with 13 listed DDR`s on VV you will need to draw a cup of tea and go threw them one by one to see with the coin in hand if there may be a match. Bruce,

I personally don't see any doubling from the photos on EPU.
Sure, it could be the lighting which is a beast to master at times.
The best I can offer in this situation is a photo of a business strike which shows some doubling on EPU.

One thing to note - Proof coins are typically struck twice to bring out those sharp details.
It does not take much for the coin to shift ever so slightly between strikes for it to be noticeable under magnification.
